After an exhaustive search of our own and many other producers' archives ‐ as well as a worldwide appeal for footage ‐ we bring you exceptional highlights from a staggering 24 of Joey's record-breaking 26 TT wins.
While we have been unable to trace any race footage from his first win ‐ the 1977 Jubilee TT ‐ and the 1984 Formula One, the incredible film we have located charts a TT record which is unlikely ever to be bettered.
It shows Joey as a young charger, challenging and beating stars like Mick Grant and Roger Marshall, the 'big bike' glory years when Joey scored six F1 wins in a row and his domination of the 125cc and 250cc classes in the 1990s. We are reminded of how "Yer Maun" overcame injury, horrendous weather, a missing exhaust and even a sunken boat to claim victory after victory, and stunned the racing world in 1995 when, as a 43-year-old, he won the Senior TT on the Honda RC45 ‐ his first big bike win for almost a decade.
